This week Asad and Charlie flew out to sunny Madrid for their first ever visit to FITUR - with over 9,000 companies and over 100,000 professionals. There was so much to see, Mr Bean playing golf and a giant TripAdvisor owl being just two highlights.
What continues to amaze us about travel trade shows is how thousands of people from across the world gather together with such ease to discuss what is arguably the most fascinating industry. Within a mere three hours you are able to meet people from all over the world, from the depths of the Andalusian region to the far away mud cities of Iran.
We set out on our voyage to learn about the Spanish travel market, and boy did we get a quick crash course. From the different booking habits across the numerous islands to the impact of fewer Russian travellers on all markets, we were left with so much to think about here at Triptease towers.
Our top three highlights of FITUR?
- Jamón. Lots of Jamón. If you’re ever organising a booth at FITUR, make sure you’ve got yours ordered in advance.
- Room Mate Hotels. We love their concept and strong brand concept. You couldn’t help but notice them at FITUR and it got us thinking about how important a strong hotel brand is to stand out.
- How our latest Price Check tool will help hoteliers. We visited at least 80 booths and discovered a recurring conversation: increase direct bookings in 2015. We’re excited to start integrating it into even more hotels’ sites this year.
Get in touch if you’re interested in understanding more about how Price Check could help you. Alternatively we’ll be at ITB in Berlin. See you there?
