Mount Panorama Bathurst is the holy grail for Motorsport in Australia. It ranks in the same vein as Nordschleife, Spa Franchorchamps, Indianapolis, Monza and other famous circuits known for their test of man and machine.
Unlike the others it is actually a street circuit, a public road for most of the year except for the few occasions it is used for racing. There is no bigger race in Australia's Motorsport calendar than the annual Bathurst 1000, which occurs in October.
For over 50 years an endurance race of 1000km's has been held on a Sunday afternoon, originally for showroom cars, but these days for Australia's premier Touring Car series V8 Supercars. What used to be a carefully paced drive is now a 6 hour sprint race that is an absolute spectacle each year.
The track has the highest elevation change of any circuit in Australia (or the world) with a truly breathtaking view at the top.
Vantage points are many and it pays to walk around and enjoy the racing from all around the circuit to truly experience it.
